Reducing Sedentary Behavior in the Workplace

Sitting for long periods during the workday is more harmful than we often realize. Research shows that prolonged sitting increases the risk of physical complaints and chronic conditions. Yet, in the office, we spend an average of over six hours a day sitting. At the Workplace Vitality Hub, I’m exploring how we can help employees sit less and change posture more frequently. Simple behavior changes - like standing more often or moving briefly - can already make a big difference. But in practice, it turns out these habits are hard to maintain.

That’s why I’m developing an intervention that uses technology to prompt you to take action at the right moment. Think of smart workstations or interactive support tailored to your needs.
