Researching Emotional Openness Among Men
Many people grew up in cultures where showing vulnerable emotions is not considered masculine. Men in particular often feel pressured to conform to specific social norms in order to be perceived as manly. Unfortunately, this has contributed to the development of both public and self-stigma surrounding professional help-seeking behavior.
Method
With the use of semi-structured interviews we aim to collect useful data from the target group. The data will be used to create and employ an intervention aimed at battling important factors within the stigma.
Target Group
The research focusses on men between the ages 35-45 who are active in physical working environments.
