Students present fresh solutions for a vital workplace: Recap Chats & Drinks June 2025

On Thursday, June 19, students and partners of the Workplace Vitality Hub came together during the ‘Chats & Drinks’ event. This networking event gave students the opportunity to showcase how their research contributes to a healthier and more productive work environment. There was also plenty of space to meet others and exchange ideas.

In total, 18 students from Fontys and TU/e shared their insights, prototypes, and recommendations. Their projects showed how broadly the theme of vitality can be approached. Some research focused on reducing stress and performance pressure, for example through mindfulness workshops and by normalizing taking breaks at work. Other students explored the role of technological innovations: from wearable sensors and smart feedback systems to AI chatbots for mental support and IoT platforms that create flexible workspaces.

Relaxation was also a key topic. Projects included relaxing applications such as hydrojet beds and ergonomic furniture that enhances both comfort and productivity. Additionally, students looked into ways to strengthen social interaction in shared workplaces and foster a positive work culture, so that employees feel mentally resilient and connected.

Finally, students developed methods to reduce procrastination and improve workplace happiness, explored ways to break taboos around emotions, and came up with ideas to encourage office workers to go outside more often and sit less during the workday.

All these projects were developed in close collaboration with the founding partners and business partners of the Hub. Organizations such as Notso AI, Kinly, JK-Benelux, Smart Workplace, TMA, ONVZ, Ahrend, Beyond Eyes, CTOUCH, Eyrise, Fittar, Maas, Reset Yourself, Zens, Nemho, and Leesman played a crucial role by providing students with real-world challenges, testing environments, and professional guidance.

‘Chats & Drinks’ was not just a closing event, but above all an inspiring platform where students, companies, and researchers came together to collaborate on smart and practical solutions for a more vital workplace.
