Session 2 - The effect of light in the workplace

Exposure to ‘biological darkness’ can disrupt the body’s circadian rhythms, impacting sleep quality, reducing energy, and diminishing alertness. These effects may lead to decreased productivity, as well as potential impacts on physical and mental health. Optimal lighting involves exposure to the appropriate type and intensity of light at specific times. During work hours, sitting near a window or using high-lux lighting fixtures can help offset insufficient daylight, supporting overall health and well-being. In this workshop you can learn all about light, its influence of wellbeing, at work and beyond, and how to address this in the workplace.

Session 3 - Behavioral change and encouraging movement at work

During the Fittar workshop, we will demonstrate how gamification can enhance your employees' motivation to move more. You will experience how adding game elements and a bit of friendly competition can increase engagement in physical activity. By participating in challenges and tracking progress, your employees will see how gamification in the Fittar app can improve their vitality, which in turn can boost productivity. We look forward to exploring how this approach can support your employees' well-being and motivation within your organization.

Session 4 - Micro-breaks for mental health

Performing all day, dealing with work pressure, and maintaining concentration can cause a lot of physical and mental tension. To stay healthy, a good work-life balance is important. Microbreaks can help keep work stress under control, regain the right focus, and contribute to a good balance between tension and relaxation. A microbreak can take the form of a walk, an informal moment with your colleagues, or even innovative support at work, such as a moment on a hydrojet bed. Microbreaks enhance employee vitality, contribute to better stress management, and lead to better productivity throughout the day. Learn more about how microbreaks can lead to higher productivity and reduced stress.

Sessie 5 - Soundscapes of hybride working

By shifting from working in the shared office, to the current hybrid working environment, the experience of work transformed from a communal practice to an individualized one, thereby lessening the sense of a shared workplace. In this research project we explore the role of sound in the hybrid working environment, to use sound as a design material for reconnecting what we feel has been lost: a shared professional biotope. In this workshop we present a fly-by of this design-research project: our understanding of the current soundscape of the hybrid working environment, the opportunities we see to use background sound for gluing together the distributed work environment, and some of our design explorations in designing a shared sound climate.

Session 6 - Tangible innovations for vitality

Hybrid meetings became essential during the pandemic, offering flexibility but reducing the chance for spontaneous office interactions. The impact? Lower engagement and increased turnover. With hybrid work here to stay, facilities and people managers need to reimagine offices as hubs for culture, creativity, and connection. Thoughtfully designed spaces that integrate smart technology and innovative office furniture can enhance social well-being and reinvigorate in-person collaboration, helping to build a stronger, more engaged workforce. Discover how to design your office to boost social well-being and revive in-person collaboration!
